INT. chimney - bedroom - morning
Colors dance and swirl. THEY Flow in between clouds.
A Loud annoying voice rips through AVERY'S dream.
ALARM CLOCK VOICE
"ITS 15 DEGREES AND THERE'S NOT A CLOUD IN THE SKY"
A clenched fist slams into the ALARM CLOCK. The voice stops.
AVERY, (50s) a graying cloud artist, sits on the side of his bed. He strokes his cloud beard, takes a deep breath and pushes himself up.
INT. CHIMNEY - easel - morning
AVERY lines up his brushes.
Places his paints just right.
And begins to paint. After a moment he pauses, leans back. And then he adds the final touch. He holds the canvas up while he maneuvers to the chimney.
Avery tosses the painting down. He watches as it falls into darkness. After a BEAT the chimney ROARS to life. Clouds shoot past AVERY'S face.
EXT. CHIMNEY - SKY - MORNING
Clouds spew into the sky. They remain in AVERY'S painted formation and multiply.
PAN DOWN
AVERY looks into the sky, he watches the clouds for a moment and then shakes his head in disapproval. AVERY HUFF'S and heads inside.
INT. CHIMNEY - easel - morning
AVERY DUMPS a blank canvas down the chimney's base. The Chimney sputters and then the clouds begin to retract.
EXT. CHIMNEY - SKY - MORNING
AVERY'S clouds are sucked back down the chimney. The sky is left pale, almost white like the blank canvas.
The raindrop creatures sigh, disappointed.
INT. CHIMNEY - easel - morning
AVERY'S original painting floats back up the chimney. AVERY snatches it mid, scrunches it and throws it into the pile.
AVERY picks up a half finished canvas and after a BEAT tosses it over his shoulder and down. The chimney ROARS to life while AVERY wanders off into the distance.
ext. CHIMNEY - SKY - MORNING
As the chimney pumps out clouds TITLE CARD.
"CLOUDED" is written amongst the sky.
Rain creatures sit on the edge of clouds and watch SAL Avery's creation.
fade to black
INT. chimney - bedroom - NIGHT
Colors dance and swirl. THEY Flow in between clouds.
THUNDER CRACKS
AVERY BOLTS upright. The room only lit by random strikes of lightning.
INT. CHIMNEY - ENTRANCE - NIGHT
AS AVERY enters the room he GASPS. Water laps the front entrance. AVERY quickly slams a button. Flood lights sweep the balcony. The Rain drop creatures freeze and all shift there gaze to AVERY.
After a BEAT horizontal window wipers sweep them off the side.
As AVERY dust's his hands he is interrupted by a CRASH. AVERY turns, he begins to SCAN the room when he suddenly meets face to face with SAL (a tall prominent Rain drop creature).
They both let out a YELP. AVERY quickly turns to check the wipers and snaps back. SAL is gone.
AVERY begins to chase, he catches and grabs items as SAL knocks them out of place.
AVERY stands, arms FULL as SAL runs straight into the open tins of paint. SAL quickly stands and shakes himself. Paint splashes everywhere. SAL proceeds to jump onto the chimney's rail. AVERY shouts out but after a BEAT Sal steps off.
AVERY covers his eyes as the chimney ROARS to life. The storm is ripped from the sky and replaced.
AVERY peers through his fingers and races outside.
ext. CHIMNEY - SKY - MORNING
AVERY watches the sky, AWESTRUCK. He cracks an ECCENTRIC smile.
Beautiful color reflect in his eyes. At first they whirl past brightly but then slowly fade to a mellow gray.
SAL drops and quickly explodes onto the BALCONY. He looks around, confused then meets eyes with AVERY.
SAL cautiously approaches, he stops and looks up. Excitedly AVERY points to the sky. SAL glances up then to AVERY. They give each other a knowing look.
FADE TO BLACK
INT. CHIMNEY - ENTRANCE - DAY
ROLL CREDITS
AVERY picks SAL up and places him on the chimneys rails. He hands him a painting. SAL is ready as AVERY gives him the signal.
Clouds spew from the chimney.
Rain creatures sit on the edge of clouds and watch SAL and Avery's creation.
SLOW PULL to reveal surroundings. Clouds flow through a spectacular rainbow.
